Almost perfect
This is exactly the return to early 90s adventure gaming I have been waiting for! Its gorgeous, its witty (and even subtle??), its pitch-perfect. Even the music hits the nail on the head - the retro elements of the game are lovingly rendered, but instead of getting fixed on, say, chiptunes, the score is what the games of that era STROVE for, not a pastiche of the limitations contemporary to the VGA-style graphics.
I enjoy the gameplay a lot, but I find it a little bit linear, a little bit constricting, and there are stretches of exposition that arent interrupted by much more than very very specific instructions that feel about the same as watching text. I would LOVE to do more exploring, more picking up weird items and maybe not using them right away to solve a puzzle thats right in front of me, but keeping an inventory and never knowing when something will come in handy, requiring a bit more ingenuity than "whatever I can pick up in this room will help me solve the puzzle in this room."
But thats just a matter of preference - the point of this review is that the game knocks my socks off. I love it, and I want everyone to buy it, and I want more like this please.
